STUDY SKILLS In order to perform well on assignments, today’s students are expected to navigate through seas of information often without a proper compass. Having effective study skills in place can make life much less stressful and strengthen a student’s confidence when approaching schoolwork. Students who lack these important skills can become discouraged and overwhelmed by the scope of what is expected of them. They struggle to prioritize information and may not know how to utilize the resources already available to them. Our tutors help your child learn and employ effective study skills by instructing them on ways of gleaning useful information from texts efficiently. We teach how to identify headings and subheadings and skim with focus and purpose. We instruct on how to best utilize glossaries, indices, and the Internet. We teach strategies for study planning, goal setting, note taking, active listening, direction following, researching, report writing, and test taking!
